On Sunday, July 20, 2003, KOA of Western Pennsylvania organized a musical evening "Mehfil-e-Ghazal" with renowned singer Mrs. Kailash Mehra Sadhu, who was accompanied on tabla by Mr. Amit Chaterjee from Michigan. The evening started with an introduction of the artists by Dr. Nanna Warikoo followed by the melodious voice of Kailash ji which kept the crowd upbeat with a series of non-stop "Koshur Mausiquee" for over 2 hours before the recess. After the break (Khava Chai and Rott), Kailash ji started accepting requests in "Aap ki Farmaish" segment of the program. The program picked up so much momentum that audience had the dejavo of such an evening.
Later, the artists were honored by Dr. Ashok Dhar (honorarium presented to Kailashji and Amitji by Mrs. Anu Trisal and Mr. Makhan Lal Raina respectively) followed by a thank you note by Dr. Bupesh Kaul for the host (Dr. Veena Dhar / Dr. Ashok Dhar) and the volunteers (Surinder Kaul, Bipin Kaul, Rohit Kaul, Priya Dhar, Anuj Dhingra and Raul Trisal) that made this show an "An Evening to Remember".
There were close to 20 families (new members and new faces got introduced) that included members from Pittsburgh, Ohio and West Virginia State as well as guests from Philadelphia and Toronto, that participated in this musical concert. The program ran for over 3 hours (with a short break - to update the members with Chapter's forth coming events and activities) followed by group photographs and dinner.
Lots of members bought CDs and tapes of songs sung by Kailash ji besides raising funds via raffle tickets organized by Divya Kaul and Zoon Wangu and presented prize money to the three winners by pickers, Pooja Chaudhary, Sana Handu and Rashmin Khazanchi.
Last but not the least, special thanks to Mrs. Manjri Kaul for making arrangements for the food. I would like to thank other members of the Chapter (that I did not mention above), without whom this concert would not have been possible.
